Project Methodology E-mail

In line with the approach principles and framework promoted by UN-ISTRAW, now part of UN-Women, to conduct applied research the project methodology is based on action-oriented research that can be used and adapted by government agencies, NGOs, universities and independent gender researchers.

In the first phase of the project, the development of a participatory research methodology to monitor aid flows from a gender perspective – that will then be adapted according to the context in the six project countries (Viet Nam, Cambodia, Peru, Guatemala, Morocco, and Mozambique) – is foreseen.

The findings of the investigation conducted in each country will then be published while identified gaps, best practices and subsequent action recommendations will be communicated to all stakeholders to increase understanding and support of the topic.

In order to foster the exchange of information and best practices, the development of a knowledge management tool that enhances the visibility of the project findings and helps disseminate updated information and resources on key issues will be developed. The facilitation of virtual knowledge communities and virtual dialogues will further promote the exchange of information on the topic.

Policy dialogues with national governments and local stakeholders on the issue will then be initiated on the basis of the research findings in order to achieve gender-responsive policies, programmes and projects at all levels, as well as capacity building actions to strengthen stakeholder’s capacity to address and effectively integrate gender issues in the aid effectiveness agenda.
