Executive Board commended UN-INSTRAW on progress achieved
The Executive Board of UN-INSTRAW, meeting in its Resumed Sixth session on 1 October 2009 in New York, commended the Institute on the progress made and new initiatives taken. The Board also approved the proposed UN-INSTRAW 2010 budget.
 
Experts will analyse the issue of gender in electoral systems
Representatives from the UN-INSTRAW programme “Gender, governance and women’s political participation,” will participate in the “III International Congress, which will focus on the topic of Electoral Studies:  Parties, elections and quality of democracy in globalization.” The representative will present a new UN-INSTRAW initiative within the thematic scope of electoral systems and gender.
 
Meeting on best practices in public policies for Latin America and the Caribbean
Gender equality experts from Latin America and representatives from United Nations entities met in Chile to share best practices for public policies.
 
Women confront regulation on domestic labour in Spain
The feminist movement as well as migrant organizations and associations of domestic workers will gather to discuss and reach agreements with the Spanish overnment and labour unions on the restoration of their rights in face of the reform of national regulations for domestic labour.
 
Gender and migration on the agenda of university event in Mexico
UN-INSTRAW participated in the event entitled “First international seminar – Migration in the dawn of the XXI Century” which was held from 13 to 15 October at the Economic Research Institute of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
 
UN-INSTRAW welcomes new Gender Architecture
UN-INSTRAW welcomes the General Assembly decision to adopt Resolution (A/RES/63/311) in support of the establishment of a strengthened gender architecture that will reinforce the work of the United Nations to make a difference in women’s lives.
