In ten booklets, UN-INSTRAW presents an historical narrative on women’s political participation in Latin America. The situation of women on the continent is evaluated and “legal” is compared to “real,” as proposed objectives are compared to goals reached in areas such as quota laws and public policies.

From 7 – 18 September 2009 UN-INSTRAW will be hosting the virtual discussion “Global Care Chains: Assessing the Situation and Policy Challenges.”

The Norwegian organisation FOKUS Forum for Women and Development, and UN-INSTRAW are organising a conference 11-13 November 2009 on monitoring the implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820.

On 3 August 2009, Chilean President Michelle Bachelet signed the National Action Plan for the full implementation United Nations Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
