“GENDER, REMITTANCES AND DEVELOPMENT:
The Case of Women Migrants from Vicente Noble,
Dominican Republic”


General Objective

To contribute to the efforts aimed at harnessing the potential of remittances in developing countries by mainstreaming gender issues into the study of remittance flows socio-economic uses and impacts on recipient households and communities.

Specific objectives

  1. To better understand the gender patterns present in remittance flows and their impact on gender roles within remittance’s receiving households and communities
  2. To provide key stakeholders – migrant association, NGO’s, Academia, international assistance agencies, United Nations agencies and financial institutions- with the tools to enhance the gender perspective in programmes that draw connections between remittances and development.
