Specific Objectives
- To understand better the knowledge about the gender paterns of remitting and use of remittances, and their impacts on gender roles at household and community level. To establish differences and similarities with the Dominican case on these topics.
- To enhance capacity – building of key stakeholders ‘Financial institutions, UN agencies, government offices, international cooperation agencies, migrant’s associations, local NGO’s and academic centres- in order to integrate gender into their programmes and projects aimed to link remittances and development.
Partners
In order to create sinergies with different organisms and international agencies working on migration and remittances, an agreement was signed with IOM Guatemala. IOM Guatemala carries out every year a survey to a sample of households that receive remittances at national level. In the survey of the year 2007 INSTRAW will take part by making a module about gender that will be added to the survey already prepared by IOM Guatemala, in order to realize later an analysis of the results with a gender approach. As soon as the results of the survey were obtained they will be completed by a series of qualitative interviews.
