Through its case studies INSTRAW seeks to enhance and expand knowledge on the impact of international migration on development through a gender analysis of three broad areas:

  • The contribution of women migrants on the development of their countries and their communities of origin, and the relevancy of that contribution in the fight against poverty
  • How the migration of women is affecting gender roles in the household and in the communities of origin
  • Strategies aimed at increasing the development potential of remittances with a development that includes women
