The Development Potential of Remittances from a Gender Perspective: Qualitative Research Methodology

The purpose of this paper is to define a qualitative research methodology for the development potential of remittances from a gender perspective. The methodology was validated through a case study conducted in the Dominican Republic, which focused specifically on the migration of Dominicans to Spain. Nevertheless, the methodology is designed for use in different geographical regions with distinct migration patterns in order to ensure the development of a comparative framework that maps the largest possible number of variables in addressing the issue of remittances from a gender perspective. The methodology thus contains basic steps and techniques that should be subsequently adapted to each specific case.
