Gender Training/Capacity-Building Advisor

The United Nations International research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (UN-INSTRAW) is seeking a qualified candidate for a gender training/capacity-building consultancy with the following objectives: developing a framework for the Institute’s Training/Capacity-Building Programme that takes into account current and emerging trends in gender training, as well as the results of recent evaluations of gender training, particularly within the UN System; developing training/capacity-building materials (manuals, guides, toolkits, etc.) on specific topics within the field of gender and development, based on the Institute’s major programmes and projects, and within the context of the Millennium Development Goals, the Beijing Platform for Action and other relevant commitments; strengthening UN-INSTRAW’s collaboration with other training institutes of the UN System, as well as other gender training centres worldwide, through specific joint projects; The ideal candidate will have an advanced university degree in development studies, gender studies, social sciences or related field, and five to seven years of demonstrable experience with learning/pedagogy and the development and delivery of training and capacity-development materials as well as gender and development issues. Fluency in English is essential, knowledge of French and/or Spanish would be a significant asset.
