Italian Development Cooperation
UN-INSTRAW has received support to its core operations from the Government of Italy/Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, the Italian Development Cooperation has provided financial support to the project “Gender and Peace in Somalia: Implementation of Resolution 1325” (2007), which seeks to work with Somali women’s organizations in Somalia, Italy and other countries in the identification of entry points and concrete actions on women, peace and security issues.


Japan Official Development Assistance
UN-INSTRAW has received support from Japan ODA for the implementation a project on “Gender and Remittances: Building Gender-Responsive Local Development” (2007-2008), which will analyze women’s migration and the local development impacts of remittances in Albania, Dominican Republic, Lesotho, Morocco, Philippines and Senegal from a gender perspective.


Instituto Nacional de las Mujeres (México)
UN-INSTRAW is working with the Mexican National Institute of Women in the implementation of Mexico component of the project “Strengthening governance with a gender perspective and women's political participation at the local level” (2006-2009), which has included producing a Guide to Women’s Leadership, and organizing workshops with women political representatives in two cities in Mexico (Queretaro and Sonora).


Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
UN-INSTRAW has received support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the “Gender and Security Sector Reform in Haiti” project (2007-2008), which aims to assess the Haitian security sector from a gender perspective, with particular emphasis on the response to violence against women, and provide specific entry points and practical recommendations for increasing attention to gender issues.


Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECI)
UN-INSTRAW has received support from AECI for the implementation of the project “Strengthening governance with a gender perspective and women's political participation at the local level” (2006-2009), which aims to contribute to promoting women’s rights, gender equality and women’s political participation and leadership in local government planning and management in Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Peru.
