Social Affairs Officer:

Carolina Taborga

Carolina Taborga obtained a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Mexico and a Master’s degree in Development Management from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM). Ms. Taborga has been serving as Coordinator of UN-INSTRAW’s Research and Training Areas since December 2003, and manages the Gender, Governance and Women’s Political Participation and Gender, Migration, Remittances and Development Programmes.

Before arriving at UN-INSTRAW, Ms Taborga served in various United Nations organizations, including the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP), where she worked on such issues as gender, household food security and rural development. Ms Taborga also has experience working with a range of NGOs on programme and project management.

Information Officer:

Hilary Anderson

Hilary Anderson obtained her Master’s degree in Gender and Development Studies from McGill University in Montreal, and has been serving as Information Officer at UN-INSTRAW since June 2004, where she manages the Knowledge Management Programme, as well as the Gender, Peace and Security Programme.

Before arriving at UN-INSTRAW, Ms. Anderson served with the Gender and Health Unit at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Washington D.C., where she worked as a gender specialist on the violence against women and gender mainstreaming programmes, as well as the Unit’s Knowledge Management programme.

Administrative Officer:

Ingrid Amaya

Ingrid R. Amaya obtained her Master’s degree in Public Administration from SIPA at Columbia University in New York City. She has been UN-INSTRAW’s Administrative Officer since September 2005, where she manages the institute’s work plan and budget, as well as its human resources.

Before arriving at UN-INSTRAW, Ms. Amaya worked with the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) at United Nations Headquarters in New York City and served in the UN Logistics Base in Brindisi, Italy, as well as various peacekeeping operations in the Balkan region.
