Welcome to the UN-INSTRAW Gender Training CoP Web Site!

The Gender Training CoP aims to bring together practitioners from all over the world with a diversity of knowledge and experiences, in order to take stock of the present situation of gender training; what the real successes and failures have been and how gender training can be strengthened as a component of gender mainstreaming and sustainable development.

This web site is the home and workspace of the Gender Training CoP to encourage dialogue and exchange of experiences and also to facilitate access to information on gender training.

You will find a Gender Training Wiki with the most updated and complete information on institutions, trainings, training materials and opportunities on gender training; examples and templates of key documents associated with successful gender training.

The Gender Training Virtual Dialogues host formal and structured discussion on specific topics and are facilitated by Gender Training Experts form all over the world. Virtual Dialogues are also aimed at providing CoP members an opportunity for active and informal dialogue on topics of their own choice that are related to gender training. Members are invited to initiate new discussion threads and to contribute to ongoing discussions in English and Spanish. Join us in our next virtual dialogue, or take a look at the most recent discussion

The Compendium of Good Practices in Gender Training aims to make gender equality training and capacity development more effective by collecting and assessing good practices in Gender Training, in the view of their promotion, replication and systematization of lessons learned.

First Virtual Dialogue
"Current Situation in Gender Training"

For me, this Community of Practice has been helpful in knowing I am not alone in struggling with particular issues and in facing challenges and resistance. It has also been a wonderful sharing of resources. I hope that it continues with as many people as possible, and that I have the opportunity one day to work with some of you.
-Testimony from Canada, First Virtual Dialogue, "Current Situation in Gender Training"

Check out the exchange that took place during our first virtual dialogue "Current Situation in Gender Training" from September 22nd to October 28th, 2008.
