The Governance & Political Participation Programme works to achieve gender equality in political representation through the execution of projects in Latin America and the Maghreb region that aim to strengthen women’s leadership and participation in decision-making processes, particularly at the local level.

Gender, Peace and Security
In order to ensure a sustainable and inclusive human security, the Gender, Peace and Security Programme has initiated ground-breaking research and training on the gender dimensions of security sector reform processes, particularly in post-conflict and fragile States. The Institute has also prioritized the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 through the creation of national action plans on women, peace and security.

Gender, Peace and Security
The Gender, Migration and Development Programme looks at the gender dimensions of remittances, migration and development. Case studies carried out in 18 countries have generated reliable data, concrete policy and programme recommendations and capacity-building initiatives, including with migrant associations, that aim to support the full recognition of migrant women’s rights, needs, and priorities.
