The 2nd New Arab Woman Forum will be held on 23-24 October 2008 in Beirut, Lebanon, as a follow-up to the First New Arab Woman Forum held in Dubai in 2007, where the position of Arab women and the challenges that they faced were the main issues debated during the event.

The Forum is being organized by the Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group and Al Hasnaa Magazine the leading Arab women's magazine since it was first published in 1909. As a consequence of Arab women’s central participation in the general economic and social transformation experienced by the Arab world today, this Forum aims at taking a closer look at women’s role and position in face of new challenges, at how they have evolved in political and social areas, in business, as consumers and in family relationships.

The major and sensitive issues to be discussed at the Forum include women’s impact in politics and the limitations that they confront in this area, their future in public life, the feminine model that should be promoted in the Middle East, educational opportunities offered to women, how norms of beauty contribute either to the Arab women’s liberation or to reducing their self-esteem, and how Arab men believe that traditional values are changing and their reaction to women’s achievements.
