Contributions sought for the 2010 annual report of the Special Rapporteur on the right to education

[21 December 2009, OHCHR] UN SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION SEEKS CONTRIBUTIONS FOR 2010 ANNUAL UN REPORT ON THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION OF MIGRANTS REFUGEES, AND ASYLUM-SEEKERS - QUESTIONNAIRE IN ENGLISH, FRENCH, SPANISH

The annual report of the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education, which will be presented to the Human Rights Council in 2010, will focus on the right to education of migrants, refugees and asylum-seekers.  With the aim of hearing from all interested persons and/or organizations about their experiences, concerns and thoughts on the provision of education for migrants, refugees and/or asylum seekers, the  Special Rapporteur kindly asks to respond to a questionnaire designed for UN, Government and NGOs experts, academics and other civil society actors.

[18 December 2009] Double Birthday: CEDAW turns 30 on the International Migrants Day.

On 4 December 2000, the General Assembly, taking into account the large and increasing number of migrants in the world, proclaimed 18 December International Migrants Day (resolution 55/93). On that day, in 1990, the Assembly adopted the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families (resolution 45/158).

The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the international human rights treaty for women, was adopted by the General Assembly on that same day 30 years ago, on 18 December 1979.
