Dear ALL, Globalization of care is just another face of all sorts of globalization, like the one on economy. In my opinion the statement that perceive the multi- national companies as care provider, fall into the trap of identifying the reasons for the status quo in care situation in developing countries, multi national corporations are profit oriented entities, like the IMF and the WB, they create positions for women 's domesticity in care and in other fields, they build the basis for more cheap labour in care sector. The demand for female labour has risen over the last decades and the women were forced to care work, with far more less payment. It is not difficult to understand the globalization of care, it is just a another form of domesitification of women's labour, and to create yet another division of labour mechanism to enhance profits. We are through on issues of providing human face to ugly practices whether by multi nationals or new HUMAN strategies or what they call cooporate social responsiblities. All produces neo-libral mechanism that would never help tranform social or economic difficulties. again, imposing western prespectives in an environment that has non-Western needs, would lead to no where. |
