In 2008 UN-INSTRAW hosted two Virtual Discussions about gender and migration that generated reflection and debate on the current approach to migration, the sending and receiving of remittances, and their impact on development from a gender perspective. Participants in both discussions shared ideas about priority research topics and how to ensure that the results of on-going research and dialogue process have a concrete impact on policy and programming. This Virtual Community aims to provide a space to continue reflecting on these issues, to exchange information and to learn from one another. The Community is made up of members from various professional backgrounds from all around the world. All of us share an interest in gender and migration.
