Women migrants most at risk |

[March 5, 2009, by Estrella Torres in Business Mirror] Women migrant workers including millions from the Philippines face threats of marginalization, loss of jobs and deprivation of their economic and social rights due to the global financial turmoil, the UN high commissioner for human rights said. Navanethem Pillay, high commissioner, said the global economic crisis will have a disproportionate impact on women—migrant workers or not—worldwide because majority of them are poor and disenfranchised.
