What is Gender Development? |
I am doing my Master in Gender Development Studies from University of Balochistan (Pakistan). I face a problem during my study that:
Gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviour, activities and attributes that a particular society considers appropriate for men and women? (WHO). it mean that, gender is the name of roll and responsibilities of male and female in the society and society made all these kind of duties. It is true phenomenon that all (most) societies are patriarchic. That?s why Violence Against Women take places in the world. Someone can explain me that, what is the Gender Development and what is the Gender Discrimination? If we say that Gender is socially created roles, then how and why we want to promote/develop it? (Our societies are male dominated and women rights are being violated by male (Society).
There are many Organization that are workining on Gender Development not Gender and/in Development, are they work on right way?

Effectiveness of training in gender equality |
I have just become a new member of the COP and would like to know ho to obtain information about the latest thinking/discussions on the effectiveness of training in gender equality (GE).
GE Training is an important element of the Canadian International Development Agency's (CIDA - for whom I work)GE Policy implementation strategy, and as such I am most interested in knowing about and sharing lessons and experience in this field. Please guide me to the appropriate Instraw site.
Thank you.

How can sexual violence against men/boys be addressed in gender training? |
Hello all,
I am currently working on sexual violence perpetrated against men during armed conflict and am interested in any input regarding gender training (particularly within the security sector) on SGBV. How is sexual and gender-based violence addressed in general; as related to women; as related to girls; to boys; to men? What are some of the possibilities, challenges and limitations? How can SGBV against men/boys be better addressed (if at all)? Any additional feedback related to the subject is also greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your input!
