Creation of UN-Women
2 July 2010 - Joint Statement by Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW), International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW), Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women (OSAGI), United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) on the occasion of the establishment, by the General Assembly, of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. 
 
Spain grants 4.550.000 Euros to UN-INSTRAW

Madrid, 2 July 2010 - The Council of Ministers of Spain announces today on its webpage that the amount of 4.550.000 Euros has been granted to the United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (UN-INSTRAW).

 
New UNSCR 1325 Virtual Dialogue on Gender and DDR (Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration)
Santo Domingo, 22 June 2010 - UN-INSTRAW is pleased to announce the launching of a three-week virtual dialogue to strengthen the analysis and replication of good practices in the area of gender and disarmament, demobilization & reintegration (DDR).
 
New Regional Course in Economy and Gender for Latin America
The International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (UN-INSTRAW) in collaboration with the Grupo de Trabajo en Economía y Género de América Latina (GEM-LAC), Fundación Böell, United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is supporting a "Regional Course in Economy and Gender for Latin America", in Buenos Aires- Argentina, from July 26 to August 3 2010. Extension of the Virtual Dialogue on “Gender Training in Aid”
The Fourth Virtual Dialogue of the Gender Training Community of Practice on "Gender Training for Humanitarian Aid" will be extended until May 21, 2010 in order to profit more from this interesting discussion.
 
Local Women Leaders from Latin America unite on the Learning Pathway
Santo Domingo, April 8, 2010-  UN-INSTRAW and PROCASUR will host a “Learning Pathway” in Costa Rica and Ecuador, the 11th to the 18th of April, 2010 entitled “Strengthening Participation and Impact of Women Local Government Authorities of the Andean Region and Central America”. The Pathway will unite 18 women officials working in various gender-related public institutions, women’s associations and networks, female elected officials, local women’s organizations and parliamentarians from eight countries of the Central American and Andean regions: Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru and Panama in the goal of increasing their capacity for political advocacy in local governments at the regional, national and local level in their respective regions or territories.
