A full day training on the particular needs and challenges of addressing immigrant and refugee victims of domestic violence. M. Liliana Espondaburu from Casa de Esperanza will be the keynote speaker. Sessions will address cultural competency, language barriers issues regarding interpreters, the Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights' recent report on battered immigrant women, child protection, the interplay between immigration issues and the criminal justice system, and on the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) 2005. |
