These guidelines have been developed to help United Nations mine action personnel at Headquarters and in the field, to mainstream gender considerations and strive for gender balance in the planning and implementation of United Nations mine action programmes. The guidelines highlight a range of gender considerations that should be taken into account in four of the five main areas, or "pillars", of mine action: (a) mine clearance; (b) mine risk; (c) victim assistance; and (d) advocacy. |
