Description : |
The main focus of this book is the gender dimensions of poverty and their implications for public policy. Poverty is ‘gendered’ because women and men experience poverty differently – and unequally – and become poor through different, though related, processes. This book brings together concepts, arguments and findings to show: (a) what these gender dimensions are; and (b) how they affect poverty reduction strategies. In particular, it shows that such strategies need to take gender into account if they are to be effective. |
