Description :

Development planners and NGOs are becoming increasingly committed to incorporating a gender perspective into their work. They face many challenges, however, in its practical application. This course explores concepts and approaches to gender, and how to operationalise these into effective development practice.

  • Over a period of three days, participants will have:
  • Explored the relations between gender and development
  • Gained a stronger understanding of the meaning of empowerment, equality and equity
  • Practised the used of gender analytical tools for empowerment
  • Acquired knowledge of development planning around gender roles and needs
  • Been exposed to methods of creating gender awareness in development practice
